FROM STREET LIFE TO SWEET LIFE - Inspired by Roo

ROO'S RESCUE STORY
1. Meeting Roo.. Roo's story started in October 2023.. I was on holiday in Barbados, staying at my partners family home taking each day as it came.. After a long day at the beach we returned home to find a tiny little puppy sat outside the neighbours house tucking into some food which had been put out for her. She was clearly very skinny, too skinny! I asked who's she was and the neighbour said that she'd got home from work and found her outside, nobody knew where she came fr

Is Garlic really toxic for dogs?
There's so much controversy regarding dogs and Garlic.. So I'm here to share my personal observation & experience! Many people suggest that garlic is toxic to dogs and should not be given in any quantity. Yet, there are other studies, specialists, and pawrents, who claim garlic in small amounts is not toxic, but in fact beneficial to your dogs health. After bringing Roo home to the UK where our home cooking journey began, I found alot of information about garlic being toxic t

Should dogs fly in the cargo hold?
Here I’m going to share my honest opinion about pets flying in cargo, and share my personal experience with Roo.. Obviously I don’t think it is any loving pawrents first choice of travel, we’d all much rather be able to book an extra seat for our beloved furrend to sit in the cabin with us, but this often isn’t possible... When I first found Roo, it was only 3 weeks later that she was being flown to the UK, and honestly, I didn’t have much time to even think about it all, jus

What's it like to adopt a street dog?
Many people think street dogs or rescue dogs are problematic.. but that is far from the truth! In my experience, street dogs are not problematic, but self aware, independent, experienced and because of this, sometimes untrusting at first. Some people would say Roo is a 'reactive' dog, but what is a reactive dog? One that observes and reacts to their environment in ways they've learnt to for survival? All dogs have the capability of being a particular way, but personally, I be

Save the street dogs of Morocco!
Hoping to raise awareness for the street dogs in Morocco during these dark times. Like their life isn't already hard enough, the government are now killing thousands of innocent dogs for no good reason. I visited Morocco in May of 2024 and had the chance to meet many of the local loving street dogs. Gentle dogs with soft souls. I only visited for 10 days and other than spending a few nights in Marrakech, I spent most of my time in the Tagazout region which is where I met the

What Should My Dog Be Eating?
Dog food.. It's a HOT topic, and I'm here to share my view on it.. For a long time 'dog food' has been the norm for most, but that finally seems to be changing. There's lot's of discussion on the subject and many more of us are becoming more thoughtful about what we feed our beloved furry friends. I've noticed new brands popping up everywhere! Most promoting fresh, healthy, human-grade ingredients.. There’s also a recent big movement towards a raw diet too.. With so many opti

Skinny blax's story
A beautiful girl with a heart of gold.. Skinny blax was a Bajan street dog through and through. Despite the hardship she faced, she was a gentle soul who had so much love to give. Doing her best to survive.. We first met in 2018 on the beautiful island of Barbados. Although this may seem like paradise for some, it's not for all.. She was not in a good way, she was extremely malnourished, covered in small cuts, scars and wounds from fighting while raising a litter of puppies.

WHY HELP?
There are an estimated 200 million stray dogs around the world, many of which live on tropical islands. Islands with hotter climates and limited natural food resources for dogs to survive on. This means they rely heavily on humans for their food supply and survival. Dogs are not native species to these parts of the world yet due to humans negligence, the population of malnourished dogs suffering daily with no support remains high. Dogs reproduce quickly and because of this, t
